Mr David Huffines
Adults, adolescents, anxiety, depression, mood, behaviour, relationship difficulties, PTSD, ADHD.
Hello, I am David, an AHPRA registered Provisional Psychologist. I am passionate about helping those achieve healthy psychology. I have a wealth of life experience which has enabled me to be empathetic to a large range of circumstances. I originally came from a blue collar family, and I have had first-hand experience to the challenges life can throw at individuals, families and community. Not only a qualified mechanic, but I have a Bachelor of Psychology with honours degree and I am currently undertaking in depth psychotherapy training with supervisor Dr Angela Ebert. I believe, once there is a therapeutic alliance and a safe space has been formed, there is an open doorway to unveil the troubling patterns we adopt in our lives to survive. I believe these troubling patterns are able to be removed through good psychotherapeutic work and replaced with positive, healthy, compassionate patterns of thoughts, behaviours and emotional experiences. I aspire to be highly skilled in psychotherapeutic techniques, favouring ISTDP and ACT psychotherapies. Most of my experience comes from working with people under the NDIS as a Mental Health Support Worker and Provisional Psychologist. The people have had experience with have ranged from ages 9 to 60, and have experienced ASD, ADHD, oppositional defiance disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Substance related and addictive disorders, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Chronic pain, Intra and Inter- personal conflict, Attachment trauma and loss of loved ones. Lastly, I find it to be the highest of privileges, to work with another human being, telling me things they would/have never told another soul. I take great pride in helping people grow from their darkest moments and sharing some truly bright ones together.
