Court Report Services

Family Court Report

A family report is a document written by a qualified and experienced psychologist to assist the Court in making family law decisions.  A family report provides an independent assessment of the family unit and is used to inform decisions about arrangements for children (such as when preparing parenting consent orders). This includes an assessment of family relationships, parent-child attachment, family strengths and weakness, the co-parental relationship, and parenting capacity of each individual parent.
A family report involves a comprehensive assessment through clinical interviews with parents, the child/children, any other relevant parties (e.g. child safety officer and/or treatment providers). Structured psychological tests are also conducted as well as observations within the family home.

Dr Susan Rowe provides family reports for use within the Court. Dr Rowe has worked with families engaged in the family law system since 2007 and has extensive experience in working within family law and providing assessments and reports for use in family law matters. Dr Rowe is also experienced in providing treatment and therapeutic support for children, parents, families and extended family members involved in separation or custody disputes. Contact us today on 07 5591 5976 or hello@mindhackpsychology to ask about the family court report process.

Medico-legal Psychologist's Report

Medico-legal reports provide the results of an independent psychologist's assessment and opinion of your personal and psychological functioning. These reports can be prepared in relation to civil and criminal law matters and reports are prepared for use in court. Examples include public liability compensation, victim of crime, worker’s compensation, accident and personal injury, medical negligence, and trauma.

Medico-legal reports are a comprehensive report and the assessment process involves a 120 minute face-to-face clinical interview, psychological evaluation, and interviews with other relevant people (e.g., family or employers). The report generally provides a detailed personal history, results of psychological assessment, opinion as to the nature and impact of the injury or condition, any relevant mental health diagnosis, and recommendations for the treatment and management of the injury or condition. A pre-sentence court report is another example of a psychologist's report that is commonly required for legal matters.

All reports are prepared by a trained and clinically experienced psychologist.
